About Us

 

The Atlantic Rangers Scuba Club was formed in 1991 by three Chester High School alumni; Rhon Barnett, Melton Lee and Bob Williams.  The Rangers are one of  fifty-three affiliate clubs that form the National Association of Black Scuba divers; NABS.

 

With headquarters in Wallingford, PA, approximately 14 miles south of Philadelphia, the Atlantic Rangers are about one hour and forty-five minutes West of some of the best wreck diving on the East Coast.

Atlantic Rangers are "Jersey wreck divers" and "Hunters of the deep".  The Atlantic Rangers have members from New York to Oakland, CA.   Full Membership in the Atlantic Rangers Scuba Club is open to all certified divers regardless of race, color, ethnic origin, religion, sex, national origin, handicap or veteran status.  Not yet a diver?  No problem;  Associate membership status invites you to explore the world of SCUBA.

 

 The club offers "Introduction to SCUBA" workshops for city youth organizations in an attempt to stimulate interest in this great sport.  From this program, the Rangers have also sponsored  youth to attend the NABS National Youth Summit.  Young people from affiliate clubs all across the nation will come together and continue the tradition.

 

In November 1997, at the 8th Annual Summit in Nassau, Bahamas, the Atlantic Rangers Scuba Club was presented the National Association of Black Scuba Divers "Club of the Year" award. Also, in November 2002, at the 13th Annual Summit in Cozumel, Mexico, The Atlantic Rangers Scuba Club was presented with the National Association of Black Scuba divers "Club of the Year" award, for the second time.  The Atlantic Rangers are the only NABS club to have three NABS Diver of the Year. Bob Williams was awarded this honor in the Cayman Islands in "1998" followed by Toni C. McNeal in St. Thomas in "2001" and Dean Carroll in Cozumel in "2002"
